Jesus Camp

It's been in my Netflix queue for a long time and it finally arrived this week. Jesus Camp (see also Wikipedia, IMDB) is a documentary about an evangelical Christian bible camp that indoctrinates children with far right-wing and anti-science teachings. It's an excellent documentary and well worth seeing if you want to understand what's going on in the deep red areas of the USA. It's truly scary stuff, but church folk aren't all like that -- check out Evolution Sunday coming this weekend to a pulpit near you.
Comments:

I just got it from netflix also.....what is so scary is that these people really believe what they are saying...they really are good people just disturbed.

I thought the most interesting part was that in an attempt to scold the children for their interest in Harry Potter, Fischer requires of you the believe in what she calls "warlocks." Then she implies that burning them at the stake thousands of years ago was a good thing. Nowhere was there an admonition of the barbaric behavior of those who accussed innocent people of being witches and warlocks, and the subsequent murders. Killing people over ignorance-driven fear is evi; learning to advance your reading skills through fiction is not. While I believe that all of their intentions are innocent, people like Fischer are supporting a mob mentality, the lessons of which can be learned in any history book.

I want to ridicule the Jesus Camp with Harry Potter. Creationists seem believe creatures described in the Harry Potter books exist. I want to ask, "Where are the fossil records of those creatures?" What, "intelligent designer," created such creatures? Evolutionists have never reported finding such creatures.

Radio Station KLUE in Longview, Texas, one of the stations which organised the public bonfires of Beatles records on August 13, was knocked off the air the next morning when a bolt of lightning struck their transmission tower, causing extensive damage to their radio equipment, and according to the book Beatles In Their Own Words edited by Pearce Marchbank, knocking their news director unconscious.

Well, it is said, that the world was created by the God about 5000-6000 years ago. And the fossils are created by the devil to deceive you! :)
