OpenID support in Roller

Thanks to one hard working student and the Google Summer of Code, we now have a patch for OpenID support in Roller and its ready to commit to trunk. Here's a teaser screenshot:

If you want to know more, the proposal for OpenID support is on our wiki and the patch is attached to issue ROL-1733 in our bug tracking system.

Comments:

Nice work. Though I would like to see generic pluggable federated authentication. OpenID is only one protocol in this space, in the academic community shibboleth is much more widely used for federated authentication.

Good stuff, congratulations on getting OpenID going. I work for a company called Vidoop and for site operators we run an affiliate program at http://affiliates.vidoop.com which gives you an easy way to refer members to myVidoop to get their OpenID account. Joining an affiliate program is a way for the site operator to keep the user from having to wade through all the different OpenID providers and possibly getting stuck with an unreliable provider. The link can go anywhere and is very unobtrusive, here is an example of what it could look like: http://ma.gnolia.com/signin Cheers, Kevin

Excellent news. You might also want to check out an OpenID login widget that makes it easier for people to login on your site with with OpenID: www.idselector.com. Its free, easy to install, and fully configurable to meet your needs. JanRain also offers a co-branded affiliate program to allow your customers to quickly get a market-leading OpenID from myOpenID.com. myOpenID offers V1.X and V2.0 compatibility, SSL certificate and InfoCard authentication, out-of-band CallVerifID phone-based multi-factor authentication, multiple personas, and many more features. The myVidoop affiliate program also integrated the ID Selector from JanRain, you can see how Twitterfeed integrated it here: http://twitterfeed.com/auth/login
