mod_jk and I do not get along

You know you're not having a good day in Java web application development land when you spend hours staring at Tomcat source code and end up deciding your best bet for solving the problem at hand is to download and compile a new HTTPD and mod_jk from source.

Comments:

After I got mod_jk2 running, I've never touched it again. I'm too afraid :-)

BTW the authentication image nees some work. When I see white text over a background with a significant chunk of white in it, I find it hard to read. Thanks.

I've posted a blog on using tomcat and squid which is much easier to install and much faster than apache + tomcat together, might be of some use to you in future ;)

One year later I have just done the same thing! Is there any hope of a better solution?
