Look what the linkback dragged in.

That linkback to Mark Lussier's inbox (one of the Blojsom developers) on yesterday's 'Some bugs' post is funny as hell. What kind of web-mail is that guy using? For the record, the SQL and jar problems were on platforms that we do not test (Postgres, MySQL 4.0, Tomcat 4.0, and Tomcat 4.1 LE).

Comments:

Oh my! That is entirely too fscking funny. That is probably on par with the FBI referer log trap. I can only say that I sit here red-faced laughing my ass off with the hope that you did not take any offense. Blogs are fun!

Damm, crappy little mail server that I am using.. Can you be a nice cat and remove the linkback...

BTW You might not have liked what Dave put in that email, but I kind feel that posting the security hole in my webmail was kinda un-called for... an email to me would have been better

I couldn't resist pressing the linkback visibility toggle, it was just too funny. I did that without thinking and I am sorry. No malice intended. I will set the linkback to hidden now.

No malice intended with the original comment either as I was uneducated about those configurations being unsupported. I told Mark I didn't want this to become like the Dave Winer/Mark Pilgrim/Sam Ruby "bitch" fest (http://www.intertwingly.net/blog/ - METADISCUSSION). Czarnecki ranted. Lussier clicked. Johnson admired. Lussier napalmed. The results were predictable. Results: * Original author laughs red-faced being "Unedicated About Supported Configurations Beotch" * Useful discussion continued in comments * Linkback emerged as a useful way of establishing identity (and reading "Unsecure WebMail Beotch's" inbox)

I don't think we peasants could reach such great heights of discourse. Interesting note: earlier versions of Roller would have posted that trackback automatically without any intervention on my part. Damn, more bugs: ROL-161 Comments not in always in proper chrono order and ROL-162 Comment formatting not preserved when HTML disabled.

Dave, If you are the author of that wonderful book, Java Internationaliztion, I have a question for you. I am unable to get java 1.4.3 to output Unicode characters from a certain extended character set (1F00-1FFF Greek) to display properly in a JTextArea. I did a search on charset.jar and noticed that a translator subclass for this particular extended set was missing. But that's just a guess; I don't know what the problem is. Any ideas on why the JApplet won't display the characters properly?
