Calling the Netflix bluff.

Netflix is raising prices again, but Kuro5hin suggest that by attempting to cancel your Netflix account, you can get a better deal - even better than before the price hike. I've been a Netflix member for five years now, so I remember how good the service used to be. Turn-around time on DVD shipments has gone up sharply and so has the frequency of critically damaged DVDs. I'm gonna call that bluff. I have nothing to lose.

Comments:

I dropped by membership almost two years ago, but that was due solely to my losing my job at the time. I haven't missed it as much as I thought I would (of course, that was at the same time I found Roller).

I've just dropped my membership (after 3 years !) and I was not offered a better deal. So far ... ;-)

Yeah - I did the same thing and they just cancelled it. No offer... Damn - now I have to signup again! ;-)

I cancelled my membership a month after signing up, and was offered the $13.95 per month for 2 movies. Then 2 months ago, I cancelled again (after having the service for 2 years), and was offered $11.95. But that was still too high since I haven't watched a rented DVD in months. Once the baby gets into a sleeping pattern, I might rejoin.
