Backing up your blog with Grabber

Rich Burridge explains how to use Grabber one of the Blogapps utilities to back up your Roller-based blog, but Grabber should work with any blog server that supports the MetaWeblog API. I'm sure you have some questions about this so I'll just go ahead and answer them now. No, I didn't pay Rich to pimp my book. And yes, it would be much better if Roller included an export facility.
Comments:

Somebody asked me a similar question a couple of weeks ago and I sent him a roller export macro I'd pieced together some time ago. He was able to take my arbitrary xml format (which includes the comments) and turn it into a rss 2.0 file which he could then re-import into drupal.

That's a very good approach to take, since Grabber does *not* get comments.

Wasn't sure whether Atom supports the comments in-line as it where - then its easy enough to create a modified version of the atom macro to include a parameter for the number of days/entries. Might want to protect the macro so only the owner can use it? no need to make it easier to have your entire sites contents stolen.. I'm not really up-to-date on what Atom can do over and above rss and all its little extensions. Guess I might need some kind of book on rss and atom in action.. but where oh where could I possibly find one of those ;)
