Throwing stones

We had another short but nice weekend in the N.C. mountains thanks to our friend Mark. We enjoyed good food, homemade wine, playing pool and a nice slow canoe ride down the New River. The kids got a break from Lego Bionicles and Runescape and enjoyed more simple things like playing in the river, throwing stones and catching crickets.

Yeah, those were the days. I didn't live near a river, but I did live across the street from Eastwood Lake in Chapel Hill, had constant access to a canoe and seemingly unlimited free time to spend fishing and "swamping."

This place looks very beautiful.. Very nice shot... I should visit it some time (I never lived near a lake...) .. Where is this ? (NC Mountains == Smoky Mountains area ? )

Hi Partha, that's the New River, near W. Jefferson, NC. It's just about in the center of <a href= "http://maps.google.com/maps/mm?ie=UTF8&hl=en&ll=36.430882,-81.35479&spn=0.053588,0.060682&t=h&z=14&om=1 ">this map.
