JRoller.com moves from Tomcat to Resin

Matt and Rick have moved JRoller over to a bigger and better hardware and to Servlet speed king Resin. Once they get the JRoller.com JIRA back up, let them know if you notice any odd glitches.

This site originally ran on Resin, so I was familiar with it at one point. Is Resin still the speed king or have advances in Tomcat turned the tables? The Web Performance, Inc. Servlet Performance Report shows them running just about neck-and-neck (and of course leaving WebSphere in the dust).

Comments:

Strange. Haven't Matt blogged about slower execution of his AppFuse integration tests on Resin comparing to Tomkat? However it could be just a startup time...

Ok, I'm crabby, but I dislike it (hey, it's my rant, I can pretend anyone cares ;-) ) when people say stuff like "to the Servlet speed king resin". They just throw out there that Resin is this big huge "speed king" as if it's a fact. grrr The worst part is - since jroller's moved to a better server, we won't even know if Resin has better performance or not! Some people will be like "it's faster, yeah I bet it's because of Resin". I mean, with such an out-there statement, I would like to see the results! </end-crabby-rant> ;-)

Let's see if the move pays off: http://jroller.com/comments/Sayaka/Weblog/what_freeroller_net_desperately_needs#comments :)

Yeah, I hear you. I don't think Resin is the speed king, but it did have a reputation for speed and when I used it 2 years ago it was definitely faster than Tomcat.
