Evil trash.

I just returned from Chapel Hill where I worked for about three hours to rid my brother's computer of all of the various adware, spyware, evil crap, worthless trash, and malicious idiocy that had accumulated over the first six months of his Windows-based computer's life. Three hours! If not for the Heavy Metal Parking Lot and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog videos we enjoyed, I would be ready to rant and rage right now. Evil trash indeed.

Comments:

Dave, I recently had to do this for someone else's computer as well. Hook them up with AdAware, which I've found to be the best adware, malware, spyware remover. It even gets all those pesky URLs and other cruft. Definitely a timesaver. Just set it to scan and delete!

I've used AdAware before and I really should have used it last night, but it took some work before the computer was responsive enough to do anything. Now that the machine is usable, I'll have to install it.

I have found SpyBot to be much better at removed and staying current in the spyware battle then AdAware. Spybot is free as well!

The guys at The ScreenSavers like SpyBot as well. I've used both. Can't be to safe. This type of "evil" is precisely why I kept my OS/2 Warp installation running for so many years. Until 2003, I was an OS/2 warp user. Now I'm primarily a Linux user with occassional boots into Windoze to work from home.
