To run mod_jk, I had to upgrade from the Apache 2.0.40 that comes with Redhat 9, so I built 2.0.47 from source. Even then mod_jk would not work, it core dumped!, so I built mod_jk from source too. I inadvertently started with mod_jk2 and so the old mod_jk examples were of little use to me. Once I built everything from source, everything worked fine. Arrrgh. Look at the time!

Assuming you are not doing affinity based load balancing, mod_proxy is by *far* the easiest way to do it. Now to make mod_proxy do affinity load balancing and...
