BTW, in the section where you describe the History of Weblogging I would also consider adding the .plan files from the old school Unix finger utility. Not many people use finger anymore because it's yet another open port on your computer, but I guess it used to be extremely popular.
.plan files have been around forever but really got some notice, IMHO, when John Carmack of iD software began posting some of his worklog notes. These .plan files where then picked up by sites like bluesnews.com and others.
