Referer spam techniques

Referer spammers are using domain names like italianamericanmarchingband.com and worldprintdealers.com to point to prOn sites now, making it even more difficult to filter out the trash.

One thing I have noticed about referral spam is that they seem to hit only a few pages on the site. Doesn't help for automated blockage, but at least it helps a little bit. :/
